Embrace seasonal eating and learn helpful tips to make everyday cooking less stressful while making homemade Japanese gyoza. We'll fill thin and chewy gyoza with seasonal vegetables, try a few pleating techniques, and enjoy them with a simple dipping sauce. Whether you're a seasoned home cook or a novice in the kitchen - either way you'll build confidence, learn techniques, and make delicious food!

How to join:
This is a virtual event. A Zoom link is provided by default in your confirmation email, but you can use other video conferencing software if you prefer.
What to bring:
- all purpose flour
- sesame oil
- soy sauce
- cooking oil
- sriracha or sambal oelek (or other spice) - optional
- rice vinegar - optional
- 1 pint mushrooms (shiitake / trumpet / oyster are best, but white or crimini work!)
- ½ bunch spring onion or scallion
- 1-2 large carrots
- 1/4 small cabbage or 2 baby bok choy
- 1 small piece of fresh ginger
- 2 cloves of garlic
- pan or skillet with lid
- rolling pin / bottle of wine
- cutting board
- sharp chef's knife
- bowls (1 large, 1 medium, 1 small)
- large baking sheet or platter
The gyoza workshop was so much fun! I was amazed by how much we were able to cover—making the dough, sauce, and filling, shaping the gyoza, and cooking them. Megan didn't just teach us the techniques, but she also gave helpful tips about reducing food waste and other ways to use the same ingredients. I think the Zoom format works really well because you get to work in the comfort and familiarity of your own kitchen but still have your expert (Megan) on hand to answer questions and troubleshoot.
We worked with Megan to plan an end of project celebration, and couldn’t have asked for a better team event! We were all so happy with the timing, Megan’s fantastic instruction and tips/ tricks, and of course the delicious end product! Megan also shared all the necessary prep well in advance so the day of went smoothly- which we really appreciated for a remote, virtual event.
The class was challenging, and felt like I learned a new skill, but was the perfect amount of content to not feel rushed or overwhelming. Megan was absolutely fantastic.
