In an hour and a half, we’ll turn lime juice, eggs, sugar and graham crackers into a dessert that will make you want a third slice. Even if you’ve only baked store-bought cookie dough, you’ll find it easy to master this citrusy delight and make it look simple.
Join former Chez Panisse chef and longtime cooking instructor, Chef Shelley, for a lively class packed with skills that will help you feel at home in the kitchen. She’ll toss priceless tips your way, stir in a few jokes, and get you and your group talking. Along with a great recipe you’ll make again with ease, you’ll come away with a big boost of kitchen confidence.
Participants will source the ingredients from a provided shopping list.

Participants should bring:
- Supplies from the provided shopping list
- An apron
- A chef’s knife
- 6” or 8” 9” Pie pan
- 2 bowls (8” diameter and 10 diameter)
- Rubber/silicone spatula
- Microplane/grater for zesting limes
- Large spoon
- Strainer (8” diameter)
I never thought I could bake a decent pie, but Shelley taught me otherwise. It was easy to understand but most of all it was a fun process. She keeps the class lively and the students involved. This exercise convinced me I'd be happy in any of her classes. Better than that, the pie was scrumptious and now I will be fat.
This was my first time making pie, and it was such fun! Shelley guides you through the pie making process not only with kind patience and expert knowledge, but also with her engaging personality and great sense of humor. I loved the experience and the key lime pie was delicious!
Kudos to an awesome Chef. I was really nervous going in (I am not a great pie maker), but Shelley created such an engaging environment she was able to put us all at ease immediately! I felt comfortable enough to ask several questions, which she answered clearly and concisely, and she offered a ton of useful tips for trying the pies at home. One of the things I appreciated most about the class was the way Shelley was able to deliver her extensive knowledge of the subject so professionally yet with a phenomenal sense of humor - none of us felt like the novices we are!
The way Shelley had us all working together and enjoying the process made the time fly too quickly; I wanted class to go on a few more hours! The most important part - the pie was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
